Barcode scanner

Use your phone or laptop camera to scan product barcodes and QR codes. Every scan is added to a list you can copy or download as CSV, handy for stock checks and making item lists.

The list is kept on this device until you clear it. Download the CSV to open it in Excel or import it into your billing software.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us or stored on our server.

How to use the Barcode scanner

  1. Press Start camera and allow camera access when the browser asks.
  2. Hold the barcode inside the box, about 10–20 cm away, in good light.
  3. Each code is added to the list with the time. Repeats of the same code are skipped unless you allow them.
  4. Scan from a photo if the camera is not available.
  5. Copy all codes or download the CSV to open in Excel or import into your billing software.

What it can scan

Retail barcodes (EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E), CODE128, CODE39, CODE93, ITF and Codabar used on cartons and labels, plus QR codes and Data Matrix. Very small or shiny barcodes scan better from a little further away with the phone held steady.

Questions people ask

Why does it say camera permission is blocked?

The browser asked for camera access and it was denied. Tap the lock or settings icon next to the web address, allow Camera for this site, and press Start camera again. On iPhone use Safari; some in-app browsers block the camera.

Is the camera video sent anywhere?

No. Scanning happens inside your browser. The camera stops when you press Stop, switch tabs or leave the page.

Can I use this instead of a barcode scanner at billing?

It is useful for counting stock or listing items, but a USB or Bluetooth scanner is much faster at the counter. Billing software like Vyapar can also scan with the phone camera directly.

Where is my list kept?

On this device, in this browser, until you clear it. Download the CSV to keep a copy.
