Quotation or estimate?

Both tell the customer the price before the sale. A quotation is usually a formal price offer with a validity date; an estimate is an approximate cost. Neither is a tax invoice, so no GST is collected on them.

Questions people ask

Does a quotation need GST?

A quotation is not a tax document, but showing GST helps the customer see the final price. You can turn GST off if you quote without tax.

How long should a quotation be valid?

Commonly 7, 15 or 30 days. Set a Valid till date so prices are not held forever.

Can I convert this quotation into an invoice?

Open the invoice generator and add the same items. Billing software like Vyapar converts a quotation to an invoice in one click.

Is it free?

Yes, with no signup and no limit. Everything stays in your browser.
